Assessments:
Our
first assessment took place at the Police HQ in Lincoln in August
1997, one of the hottest weekends of that year!. Handlers and dogs
were tested on varying areas and locations requiring different search
methods and tactics, all by Home Office Approved Instructors. All
passed and were awarded Certificates of Merit by Inspector Chuck
Boulton. All dogs have been reassessed annually since that time.
Media
Coverage:
We
have featured on Rolf's Amazing World of Animals after a successful
search in Sleaford in 1999. We have had various Radio interviews
over the years and appeared in the local press on many occasions.
We also give many talks to other organisations.
Awards:
In July 2000 and 2002, Search and Rescue competitions were held
in Huddersfield by the Disaster Dog Group, Searches were of a variety
of areas and we competed against teams from England, Scotland and
Germany, with judges coming from the USA, Holland and Germany. On
both occasions, we won both the team and individual trophies.
The
Kirsty Carver Trophy:
This trophy was donated to us in memory of Kirsty Carver whom we
helped search for in Hull during April 1998. It is given to a member
annually for endeavour.
